​​​About the Show:

From Jukebox to iPod: Music from Broadway’s Pop Musicals is a joyful, intergenerational musical revue set in a family-owned Cleveland record shop, where a grandmother, her son, and her teenage granddaughter discover how pop music on Broadway has shaped their lives across decades. Blending beloved songs from jukebox musicals like Mamma Mia!, Jersey Boys, Movin’ Out, Rock of Ages, & Juliet, The Cher Show, and Moulin Rouge!, the show explores memory, identity, grief, reinvention, and connection through the universal language of music. Part concert, part storytelling, and full of heart, this revue celebrates how songs don’t just play in our ears, they live inside us, evolving from vinyl to playlists, but never losing their power.

• This is not a traditional audition.

• This is a karaoke party, and you’re invited!

We’re casting through joy, not intimidation.

Come ready to play, take risks, and most of all, have fun!

 

WHAT YOU’LL SING

Choose one karaoke track (YouTube-friendly, please) by any of the following artists:

 

• ABBA

• Billy Joel

• Britney Spears

• Cher

• Elton John

• Elvis Presley

• Frankie Valli / The Four Seasons

• Journey

• Katy Perry

• Kelly Clarkson

• Madonna

• Poison

• Queen

You’ll sing your song beginning to end.  Memorized is preferred, but karaoke lyrics will be on screen.

Also bring a second song by a different artist from the list, just in case.

 

WHAT WE’RE ACTUALLY WATCHING FOR

 

• This is not about perfection. It is about presence.

• We’re looking for:

• Audience connection & charisma

• Storytelling from start to finish

• Movement choices (not dance… unless you want!)

• Pitch, tone, and rhythm

• Your ability to channel the star energy of your chosen artist

• Bravery and a sense of fun

Fun is the most important part. Truly.

 

SPEAKING ROLES (OPTIONAL)

 

All roles involve a lot of singing and a little movement.

If you’d like to be considered for speaking roles, please arrive promptly at 7 PM.  We’ll do brief cold reads before the karaoke party begins.  If you’re not interested in speaking roles, feel free to arrive closer to 7:30 PM.

Please indicate this preference on your audition form so we can plan groupings in advance.

 

BONUS POINTS FOR EXTRA TALENTS

• Do you play an instrument?

• Sing and play acoustic guitar?

• We definitely want to know.

• If you’re willing to bring your guitar and play something you love as an extra audition moment, write that in on the form.
